Emily MigginsEmily Miggins, Sustainability Manager, Safeway Inc. Emily develops corporate-wide supply chain sustainability metrics and reporting standards for manufacturing plants, distribution assets and suppliers. Miggins implements programs to create measurable cost savings and leads vendor collaboration benchmarking performance on sustainability initiatives. Previously, a sustainability consultant, she has specialized in delivering comprehensive municipal programs for California’s largest counties while working with corporate clients to develop Zero Waste strategies. She knows the “ins and outs” intimately of reverse worldwide logistics with most materials known to ecology. Miggins is passionate about new business development for bioregional energy solutions and creating wastewater recapture opportunities. Miggins has a long-term background in grassroots environmentalism; this experience has made her a trusted advisor to organizations looking to improve their Corporate Social Responsibility stature. Earlier in Miggins’ career she worked for a variety of cutting edge nonprofit organizations and served on Board of Directors; including GrassRoots Recycling Network, Amigos de las Americas, Native Forest Network and executive committees for the Sierra Club. Miggins is the founder and former Executive Director of the award winning ReThink Paper of Earth Island Institute. Miggins has lived and worked extensively in Costa Rica’s dry tropical forest regions. Her undergraduate & graduate studies were accomplished at L.I.U./Brooklyn-Global College & United Nations Graduate Advanced Certificate Program. |
